The Lower North Tompson Community Forest is a registered not-for-profit organization under the BC Society Act. The Society was created by volunteers in 2004 to pursue a Community Forest License for the Lower North Thompson Valley.

The Societies Act spells out what must be included in their constitution and bylaws, as well as the records a society must keep. These include a register of members and directors, minutes from meetings, accounting records, and financial statements.
